Chateau Tanunda 'The Chateau' 100 Year Old Vine Grenache, Barossa Valley, Australia 2012 Zoom

Chateau Tanunda 'The Chateau' 100 Year Old Vine Grenache, Barossa Valley, Australia 2012

SKU: TAR5A12YG
The Barossa is home to some of the world’s oldest ungrafted Grenache vines and the grapes of this wine are from Wayne Âhrens’ single vineyard in the renowned Vine Vale sub-region where his family have grown grapes for generations. The low yielding ‘Centenarian’ vines were planted more than a century ago around the time construction of the Chateau itself began. Medium to full red colour with a purple tinge. The bouquet is spicy, edgy and chocolaty, with a raspberry fruit note and lots of earthy and mineral touches. Alcohol is evident on the nose and palate, it's a touch fumey and finishes with a kick of heat. Decadently rich and lushly sweet.
